When Jerry Cleall-Harding retired as Chairman, Jeff Wood asked John to take over temorarily. That was in 1994 - John is still ‘temporary’ hairman! John’s committee meetings do not take a minute longer than they need to - he keeps all concerned (even Derek and Reg) to the point in hand.
However, it is the non-Chairman things that make John invaluable to the club. A short list includes arranging the t-shirts and awards for the Castles, trophies for our own championships and organising the Dinner Dance.
Although John does not compete at the moment he is threatening to start again!
